I like this. I am a teacher and I know that some parents dislike and have even hated my guts because I made their child work hard so that they could better themselves. I don't believe in giving great grades to youngsters that have not worked hard and have done their absolute best. I don't wish to be liked as that kind of educator. Parents want that for their children and I have been trampled, threatened, and terrorized by them. What a shame! I like who I am and what I stand for in education.

I have heard a variation of this before. "I'd rather be loathed for who I am than loved for who I am not." The source is unknown to me but the sentiment remains perfectly beautiful.
