Your Everyday Hero: Joanne M.

My hero is my mother, Joanne. She lives her life with grace, dignity, and a "never give-up" attitude. She has lived with rheumatoid arthritis since her early adulthood, and has survived four bouts of cancer. But, you wouldn't know it. She is grateful for all of her many blessings and sees suffering as part of life. She believes that her purpose in life is to love and help others. In 1997, She started the Raggedy Ann Club. The RAC is a non-profit organization that makes handmade Raggedy Ann dolls for children in need. Through the years, the RAC has donated hundreds of dolls to children in hospitals, in domestic violence shelters, and in Iraq, and more. She does all of this without looking for any credit. She believes that there's no end to the greatness that people can do if they are not looking for credit.
