Your Everyday Hero: Nickolas T.

My hero is my son Nickolas. Although Nickolas is only 6 and in the first grade, he has an old soul and heart of gold.

I am incredibly fortunate that I am able to walk Nickolas to school several days a week while working from home. As a consultant I travel quite a bit, but the days working from home make it all worth while.

During our walks, I have learned more from Nickolas than he has learned from me. Recently, after having a bad day with work and car problems, Nickolas could see I was visibly upset. He held my hand and said, ‘Don't worry Dad, I have bad days sometimes too!' I have learned so much from him just by listening. Never prejudge the source, always listen.

Nickolas has taught me so much from his 6-year-old perspective during our walks to and from school. All I had to do was listen. He is my hero!
