Your Everyday Hero: Sarah And Jeffrey Y.

It is not every day that two youngsters set an example as role models in their community. Sarah & Jeff, 14 & 12, also happen to have cystic fibrosis. Although suffering from a life-threatening disease, they always have the compassion to give back to their community.

Sarah has experience dealing with the public. She has poise in the spotlight, while Jeffrey is behind the scenes helping. They work together to educate others about their illness.

Sarah is a competitive skier and a member of Xtreme Athletes against Drugs & Tobacco. Jeffrey plays basketball and rides ramps skateboarding.

When they are not being an advocate, role model or exercising, both children manage over three hours daily of chest physical therapy, inhalation treatments and take over 60 pills per day. Sarah manages diabetes by checking her blood sugar six times daily and monitoring her insulin pump. They live life faster with more enthusiasm than a normal person because they live for today and do not think about what tomorrow will bring. In this way, they teach others that people with life-threatening illnesses don't have to stop living.

They will always be my heroes!
