Who Is Your Hero?

Do you have a personal hero? Tell us about them. It doesn’t have to be perfect to make a difference in someone else’s life.

Your Everyday Hero: Mary F.

Mary is a Search and Rescue canine handler for a federal rescue team. She has two dogs currently, Jake, a World Trade Center veteran, and Sage, a Pentagon veteran. All three of them recently returned from a 10-day deployment in the Gulf Coast zone following Hurricane Katrina. Most of the training and expenses are out of her pocket as well as the donated time. Someone once asked her why she does this, she replied because this is what makes this a great country.
