Your Everyday Hero: John H.

My brother John is a hero to me. Though he is younger by three years, he set an example of unselfishness at a time in my life when I felt hopeless. It totally changed my perspective in life and I realized that it is the kindness that we show others that brings us a sense of worthiness.

In the many years that followed I have been glorified for doing things for others. My simple answer as the reason for feeling compelled to act was that I felt that by helping others I was actually helping a persons prayers to be answered, and hope is always the key. If it wasn't for my brother’s example of unselfishness I honestly don't know if I would have become the person I am now.

My brother is starting to have some serious health issues and I pray he will be OK, because he is only thirty-five years old with a beautiful family and is respected among his peers. My brother John is my hero because he chose to not seek the spotlight but rather chose to do the truly rewarding work from outside of the spotlight. My brother John, My Hero.
