Your Everyday Hero: Zachary U.

Zachary is my nephew and my hero. He has Cerebral Palsy and so do I.
When I discovered that Zac had this condition I cried. My mother sat beside me and said that Zachary was not going to have my life. The medical technology and research that wasn't available to me would be for him. She then told me that Zachary was also more fortunate than me because he has an aunt who shared his condition. He has an aunt who loves him so much that when he needed guidance and wisdom she would be there for him. I knew in my heart this was true.
Zachary is 12 years old and he has done the impossible. He walks, speaks in sign language, and is very intelligent. He rides a horse and swims. He also can walk up and down the stairs by himself.
Zachary is my hero because he never gives up and so I don't give up. He has taught me to laugh and to enjoy life. When he sees me,he makes me feel so very special and loved. He has taught me that life is joyous despite our disabilities. Our bodies may move in unusual ways, but our hearts and souls shine.
