Lola C

A little over a year ago my wife's mother, Dolores, was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Her prognosis was very poor and she wasn't expected to make it to Christmas. After getting the news, we moved our family closer and arranged for my wife, Lola, to stay with her mom to help.

What followed would leave me with indelible feelings of absolute pride, admiration, respect, and love for my wife.

Lola stayed by her mother's side literally day and night for months as she attended to her every need. Everyone who visited couldn't understand how she was able to keep going. On occasion, they would bring food, so she didn't have to cook. She did it all without a single complaint very often through sleepless nights.

Unfortunately, after many prayers and a very tough battle, we lost Dolores in March, and although she will be dearly missed, she will live forever in the hearts of all her family and those who knew and loved her.

Everyone who knows her now believes Lola is an angel sent from Heaven, and I want to say how very proud I am of her. Her tireless devotion, compassion, and courage not only helped her mom comfortably outlive almost everyone's prediction, it also allowed our family to spend one last Christmas with Grandma.

It's the few in society who stand out from the crowd and stand up to good ideals that bring change in the world. We all need compassion regardless of our state in life. Your kindness is highly appreciated and thanks for being a fine example to all of us.

Indeed an awesome story. In today's world where competition is the buzz word, who has time to think of saying kind words. We are more interested in making businesses perfect. In the pursuit, the only thing done is to curse if there are mistakes or delay. Perfectionism is myth. Lets start accepting people as people.

Thank you for the beautiful inspiration and the reminder that being kind to others is what makes me feel best in life. There is no "thing" I could ever have that feels better than that look I see in another's face when I'm kind. As I recently read Kurt Vonnegut said "There's only one rule that I know of: You've got to be kind"
