Your Everyday Hero: Grace H.

My niece has been playing hockey since she was five and it is her greatest passion. Last year, as a high school freshman, she tried out for the varsity hockey team and, when she didn't make it, shook off the disappointment and simply played in another league for girls her age. This year she tried out again and made the team. Following the tryouts, she discovered that several of her friends, girls she had played with on other teams, didn't make the cut. Although she had every reason to celebrate for herself, her compassion for her friends was so great that instead of basking in her own achievement, she spent hours crying for and with her friends. No matter how her team does in the high school standings this year, she is a winner!
