John F

John was walking past an icy pond in Scarsdale, New York. He noticed two children skating together as their mother looked on from the shore.

Quite suddenly, the ice broke, and both the little boy and the little girl fell into the pond. John shouted children's mother, "call 911 quickly," and crawled onto the icy pond. He reached the hole in the ice, and pulled the little boy out. The girl, however, had gone under. John jumped into the pond, and went under, swimming around until he found the girl. He pulled her up, and got her out onto the ice. The boy had run to the shore, but he had to carry the unconscious girl on his back. She was not breathing. He performed CPR on her until paramedics arrived, at which time they took over. The girl was resuscitated finally. The paramedics said both children would probably have died if John had not been so quick to act. He truly saved my children's lives.

It's good to know that you have a loving father. I wish I had a father figure in my life growing up. I never met my real father, he left when I was just born. So, I'm glad you have a father that cares about you.

Bev B. from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA JANUARY 1, 2008
I too - was as blessed as you - with a great father. To truly respect what he (and others like him) have done - it is good to "pass it on." Not only in words, but in our actions now with our own children, and in our own lives. Doing this is not only a tribute to them, but, little by little, the dream of being fair - both ways - changes the world.
