Len was diagnosed with Alpha 1 Antitrypsen deficiency, a generic form of emphysema. While his lungs deteriorated slowly over the years, he did what he could to stay healthy, continued his college education, worked out even while using supplemental oxygen to help him breath.

Alan had never met us before, but ended up paying for our education and serving as a role model to me until this very day.
