Re-Gifting: Giving Away What We Have Been Given.

Seven years ago, in September of 2004, 16 random people were brought together by a common gift; their ability to sing. That fateful meeting has grown into a volunteer organization that has donated over $16, 000 to charities in their community.
Most of us had never met, or were only passing acquaintances. We were brought together by a young woman who had an opportunity to produce a Christmas show for a local theater group, but she needed ten people who loved to sing, had the talent for performing, and were willing to commit hundreds of hours of rehearsal time to make it work.
The show was very successful, and through our time together, we became a family, closer than we ever could have imagined, and felt a need to recreate those wonderful moments from the year before.
The previous years venue, however, was unavailable to us, so we were forced to organize ourselves to find a place in which to perform again.
The process of organization blossomed into a group called One Acchord Performance Company, a non-profit company staffed entirely by volunteers. One Acchord now produces an annual Christmas show that is embraced and supported by the entire community. Our numbers have grown and our attendance continues to grow as more and more people find out about what we are doing, which enables us to raise more and donate more.
In addition, many of our attendees tell us year after year that it wouldn't be Christmas without seeing the One Acchord show. And as for us, we get to do what we love... sing and perform.
It has turned out to be a win-win-win for all of us, for our community, and those in need in our community. And all because God brought together a group of strangers to whom he had given a gift...the gift of music. Now they give it away freely.
