Lottery Mishap

When my hyperactive son was six years old, I had to stop at a busy gas station for fuel.

I walked in with my son to pay for the $10 in gas and also asked for six Lottery Scratch tickets that cost $2 each.
The total should have been $22. The cashier asked for $16.
My boy distracted me enough that I didn't notice at first. Once at the car, I saw what was wrong.

I could have forgotten about it. The store was busy and my kid is hyper; but I took him back in with me to wait in line. Again.

I told the cashier that the tickets I bought were $2 tickets, not one dollar. 6 $2 tickets missing one dollar= $6. So I gave him the money. The cashier was glad I fixed his mistake.

What really is weird, a guy at the back of the line, whom I never met and have never seen again, heard me explain why I needed to give the $6 back while standing in line with a hyperactive child.

He gave me a pat on the back and said simply, "I appreciate your honesty".

I think he was an angel because you can entertain angels unaware.
