CARING

CARING-

From a young age I have always been magnetized towards the “outcasts”. The outcasts were the kids that no one wanted or wanted to be around. They were the kids with worn out shoes and dirty hair. Those who looked like no one cared for them. No one chose them to be teammates when we played games. Kids can be brutally cruel and they were not restrained in their treatment of the “outcasts”. So I would go to them and befriend them. I would laugh with them and make them feel wanted. In elementary school we always had a picnic at the end of the year. The students that rode the bus had to go home at lunch time with a student who walked to school. There was this girl, an ”outcast”, who no one chose to take home. I took her home with me and the other kids were mortified! My aunt made her a lunch. We had a great time together that day and remained friends for the summer. I didn’t care what the other kids thought about me. Someone was being mistreated and I hated it. I’m still like this today. I believe it’s a part of my personality. I’m drawn to the underdog, so-to-speak. No one deserves to be treated badly. Everyone is the same in God’s eyes and humans are the ones who put up obstacles between themselves. It’s evident all through history. It’s the cause of wars! The cliché that we should treat others the way we want to be treated is so true.
