My name is Clete and i am 62 years old. I grew up poor and didn't have the nice clothes that the other kids proudly wore, but as time passed I learned that many of these children went home after school to abusive parents, some were alcoholics, some were addicted to drugs of one kind or another and some were just mean and hateful to their children. Those things never occurred to me at the time, but as I grew older and wiser it dawned on me that I was richer by far than many of my classmates, for as I went home to my poor family after school, there was Mom and Dad with their smiles and unconditional love! I encourage each and every one of you out there that is going through the same thing to remember that you have gold and treasures in your life, it just may take some more time to discover their worth.

Never Give Up

Hi, my name is Maria. I am sixteen. I am super-skinny. So skinny my ribs poke out when I stretch. I'm always known as the "cute and innocent one" at school. I'm a goody-two-shoes. I stink at sports. I would never win in an arm wrestle. Despite my physical weakness, I'm probably stronger than ten people combined. Why? Because I was born with chronic lung disease. And despite that, I play the flute, sing, and join the Ultimate Frisbee team every year. My lung function is much less than a normal person's. I have had to live with this for all my life. But, I make do with what I have. I practice. I try my best at EVERYTHING, even if I barely have a fighting chance. The doctors say it's a miracle I am so full of life. To be honest, I have never told any of my classmates about my lung condition. I don't think that they have really noticed anything out of the ordinary. Because I never give up, and always persevere. I've always wanted to be someone that people can look up to, even when I was little. And my goal right now is to become a singer. It may sound crazy or impossible, but you haven't even heard me yet. ;) I will always keep persevering and trying my hardest. One day, it might just pay off!
