This was a nice story- just to know that there are still those people out there that are still so kind. And the part that really made me glad was the fact that it was a teenager. I'm glad there are still people who care for the elderly.

Oh wow. There aren't many times you see that kind of kindness to someone. Many times, elderly women who are so kind are overlooked and nobody thinks twice about them. I'm glad someone--and surprised it was a teenager--helped her out and had a heart.

Helping the Elderly

I reside in a sketchy part of Connecticut. There are a lot of people, especially among the young adults, who try to be all gangster-like, and everyone is out for themselves.

I was coming home one day and there was a elderly lady in her eighties (whom I might add always waves to everyone, and greets them with a smile and a friendly "hi" but lives by herself) who was out mowing her lawn. All of a sudden this young man of only 17 or so went over to her and offered to help mow her lawn.

I passed by the house again later on that day, and he had three of his friends there with him. Together they were all taking care of the elderly lady's yard work for her.

To live in a hard-knock place, and see that there are still values that people believe in and live up to, is so rare. I hope that we all can learn from this example and remember the age-old saying of "respect and help thy elders."
