Thank you for being such an amazing girl. If only there were more kids like you and like me, they wouldn't call us the Lost Generation. You make such a difference in those kid's lives. It just goes to show all those pessimists that anyone can make a difference and if we all tried, this world would be a radically different place.

Delivering Smiles

My name is Destinee. I am 11 years old. I have a friend name Shelby. Shelby and I have set up a small organization with my Mom. It is called Delivering Smiles.

Shelby and I do all of the work like collecting stuffed animals, coloring books, small hand held games, etc. After about a month of collecting these items, my Mom takes us to her work (Bay Regional Medical Center). She works there as a nurse. When we take the items we have collected to the hospital my Mom brings us to different children's rooms in the hospital. We let each child pick out any item they want. We sit in their room for about ten or fifteen minutes talking to and playing with each child individually.

When I give a little of my time to children in the hospital and when I see their smiles I get a feeling inside of me I never knew existed. It's this warm fuzzy feeling I get when I help others. I love it. Plus I get to do it with my best friend. I know I make tons of kids happy and I am happy, too. I love what I do and I plan to keep Delivering Smiles for a long time.
