Songs In the Key of Life

Larry gave us "Direction" in more ways than he could ever know.

For the better part of 35 years, Larry's life has revolved around searching out the finest music and then sharing his treasured finds through teaching and directing students and adults alike - always seeking that moment of perfection in performing - and always encouraging and inspiring others to seek that same perfection, both in the performance, and in themselves.

Little did he ever realize, that this impact would exceed the moments spent rehearsing and fine-tuning the music and would flood over and beyond into other aspects of people's lives.

For what Larry thought he was teaching us were the notes and tones and key signature, the nuances of staccato and bravado, crescendos and pianissimo. What he really taught us, was how to push and extend beyond our own perceived limitations, stand tall and firm and resolute with focused pitch and in unison, and - in spite of inner fears - breathe out that subtle note that, with angelic wings, would transcend the moment, hover between here and heaven, and touch both heart and soul with its purpose and perfection.

Larry G. has been a friend and mentor, teacher and choir director. He has inspired hundreds of students who, led by his direction, have been blessed by the sharing of his gifts and passion for music, and have all been made richer in spirit, more surer of self and stronger in character, because of it.
