OVERCOMING

Elliot Morin

I would nominate my son Elliot. Elliot has overcome a lot of barriers in his young life already. At 18 months he was diagnosed plagiocephaly and torticollis. Since they caught it too late, we started physical therapy to help fix the issues.

During this time we also noticed additional issues of his speech. Elliot was never really a babbler. We took him to get his speech tested. At first they thought he was a late bloomer. He learned to sign at 2 years old. So we thought the words were going to start flowing. At 4 years, He was diagnosed with Apraxia. We started speech therapy right away. The words started flowing but Elliot wasn’t confident with words like most kids. At 6, he was diagnosed with low muscle tone and developmental coordination delay.

Today, Elliot is almost 8. He is one of the brightest kid in his kid is 2nd grade class; he is reading at a 6th grade level and doing 3rd grade math. Elliot has already learned to overcoming barriers at a young age to learn how to successful.
