Your Everyday Hero: Jeanne N.

Jeanne is a high school teacher at a local high school, and head of the student volunteer group, Project SHARE. For the past seventeen years, she has been bringing students into New York City to distribute bag lunches, blankets and clothing to the homeless. Many of the homeless in New York City know Jeanne or know about her work, and she and her students have had long term friendships through helping them. For the past fifteen years, she has been organizing a large Thanksgiving people for the homeless at the High School, the only of its kind in Westchester, and the numbers have risen to 300 attendees from Westchester and NYC.

I want to nominate Jeanne as a hero, not only as an advocate and friend of the homeless, but also for teaching hundreds of her students love and compassion for those less fortunate.
