Your Everyday Hero: Mark B.

My hero is my husband. When I met him five years ago I was a single mother who was trying to get my life back on track. He instantly became an a close friend to me. After we dated awhile he gave up his free nights to watch my daughter so that I could go to work in the evenings since I could not afford day care. At the age of 22 his weekends were spent feeding and caring for my 9 month old daughter while his friends went out.

Eventually we married and went on to have 2 more beautiful babies. All this time he put his dream of joining the military on the back burner to support me and our children. Now after 4 years of marriage he is away at basic training. He is missing his son's first steps and precious time with his kids to do what is right. He knows what he is giving up to serve his neighbors and his country and takes great pride in his ability to help those he can.

I am so proud of a man who is able to put others before himself continually and who strives to do what he believes is right even when it is not what is easy.
