Your Everyday Hero: Jeannette S.

Jeannette is a nurse in our Emergency Room. Jeannette can always be counted to be there, for patients, families, visitors, staff, physicians, everyone. Out of her own pocket, she buys birthday cakes for her coworkers; toys for our patients; and can always be relied upon to go that extra mile for anyone in need. She is that quiet behind-the-scenes person who makes everyone she works with look good, taking no credit for her hard work, but promoting the team. She implemented an employee of the month program; personally calls families to make sure they are doing okay and see if there is anything we can further help them with. Jeannette as a hero to us all, someone who walks the talk and leads the way in showing compassionate, loving care to all whose life she touches. Her vision of how we should live and treat others is the way she lives each day. So many today complain that health care has become impersonal and uncaring, anyone who has ever had the pleasure of working with Jeannette knows what it means to be touched by an angel. No matter how rushed, she takes the time to make a smile happen to everyone she comes in contact with, no easy feat in an emergency department.
