Everyday Hero: Jimmy

Jimmy was the cousin everyone looked up to, the Head Honcho, the cousin who was always there to help the little ones along. He accepted everyone for who they were and what they had to offer, no matter how different they truly were in their life or how they appeared to others. Right up until his life ended a short time ago he was still helping others to find their way.

He was a teacher and had spent a career in the National Guard. He was athletic and shared his talents with all who came into contact with him. He would bring children's clothes home from school to wash them if they had no way to get it done at their home. He cared about children who were not even his own and treated adults in the same way.

He had an immeasurable amount of love for everyone and never looked the other way when he noticed or heard about someone in need. He taught me that everyone you come into contact with should have a lasting memory of your kindness and generosity and that people are not different from each other but rather "unique" and that is what makes our world so great. He taught me to accept everyone equally and find the importance within them instead of the differences. I am sad without him but his memory lives on in my heart and in countless others'.
