There is overwhelming evidence that the higher the level of self-esteem, the more likely one will be to treat others with respect, kindness, and generosity.
The question Who am I? is not a philosophical football meant to be kicked around coffeehouses by pseudo-intellectuals. It's a real-life question. Nothing is more important and more relevant than to know who you are.
If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride - and never quit, you'll be a winner. The price of victory is high but so are the rewards.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually who are you not to be? You are a child of the universe. You were born to manifest the glory of the universe that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
Does the sun ask itself, "Am I good? Am I worthwhile? Is there enough of me?" No, it burns and it shines. Does the sun ask itself, "What does the moon think of me? How does Mars feel about me today?" No it burns, it shines. Does the sun ask itself, "Am I as big as other suns in other galaxies?" No, it burns, it shines.
Max L. Forman
I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence but it comes from within. It is there all the time.
Confidence, like art, never comes from having all the answers; it comes from being open to all the questions.

Getting ahead in a difficult profession — singing, acting, writing, whatever — requires avid faith in yourself. You must be able to sustain yourself against staggering blows and unfair reversals. When I think back to those first couple of years in Rome, those endless rejections, without a glimmer of encouragement from anyone, all those failed screen tests, and yet I never let my desire slide away from me, my belief in myself and what I felt I could achieve.

My sophomore year in high school I joined my school's step team. It was my first time stepping and thought it would be cool to try something new since I was really shy my freshman year. My little sister is my hero. She was born when I was two years old. At birth she was diagnosed with Downs Syndrome. She is absolutely, hands down the most amazing person I know. She has put a smile on my face every single time I've been upset. I line in the dorm at school and sometimes she will call just because....

Laura was my 6th grade teacher; she helped me gain my self-respect and showed me the purpose in life. I am one in hundreds she has helped and she is an uplifting person who loves you for who you are. I know, I know. EVERYONE says their mom is their hero (heroine, technically), but for me it's really true. She doesn't pity many people and she has shown me that all you need to achieve your dreams is hard work. I thank her for inspiring me each and everyday.

Fiquei feliz quando disseram que eu sabia guardar segredo, devemos ajudar e respeitar as pessoas em suas confidencias. I was glad when they said I could keep a secret, we should help and respect people in their confidences.

I find the hardest thing in life is to just be me and be confident in that... love this quote
Do best in your life my friend, and don't lose your confidence.
Ribu Meher, Sonepur
In my life I am searching for so much right now. Confidence and understanding what I am here to do with my life is a big ? mark right now. For me, I am trying to understand the purpose...right now it is my kids, professionally I am lost, I am even more lost in my convictions. I need a bolt of lighting to hit me in rain storm, get that ah ha moment and transform my life. Tonight, my year and a half year old son got second degree burns on both hands and I am beating myself up over it. My wife is at the ER while I am asking question after question. There is no greater importance than the kids you are responsible for bringing into this world. In closing, eventually peace will come, but not right now when you can't sleep.
I love this website.
